If you have or think you may have Asperger Syndrome (AS), High-Functioning Autism (HFA), Nonverbal Learning Disorder (NLD), Semantic Pragmatic Disorder (SPD) or Pervasive Development Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS) - in other words if you're on the autism spectrum (aka an Aspie) - life among neurotypicals (NTs) can be tough sometimes.
You can do better in school - including courses that have group projects.
You can enjoy trips across town, clubs, social outings.
It's a matter of learning how the world actually works, and then how to operate within it to get what you want and need.
Arrange to hear Jeff Deutsch's own odyssey - from Aspie to A SPLINT.
As the saying goes, today can be the first day of the rest of your life. Let's begin!
"Thank you for being a part of the Asperger's adult panel. I think you and the other panelists did a wonderful job of creating greater awareness and understanding of what it means to be an Aspie."
- Elaine McAuliffe, Howard County [Maryland] Asperger's Family Support Group
Aspies have our own way of seeing the world and letting others know what we think and feel. We do certain things, like noticing details, giving clear feedback and separating our feelings from the facts, especially well. We have our own challenges to face, and we'll do whatever we can to surmount them.
If you have a spouse, lover, friend, co-worker, classmate, neighbor or someone else who may be an Aspie, or if you may meet Aspies as part of what you do, you can become more productive and happier with a better understanding of what makes Aspies tick. I would be happy to present to your company, community group, club or anywhere else.
